OMAHA, Neb. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Straight Arrow News (SAN) has been granted a perfect 100/100 score by NewsGuard, the independent provider of transparent tools to counter misinformation. SAN has also been awarded the Certified Balanced status by AllSides, a leading media bias rating service, for a second straight year.
NewsGuard utilizes a team of journalists and experienced editors to produce reliability ratings and scores for news and information websites based on nine journalistic criteria. According to NewsGuard’s Reliability Ratings, which rates news and information sites regardless of whether they want to be rated, SAN earned a 100/100 rating due to its adherence to all nine standards of credibility and transparency. NewsGuard cites SAN’s responsible handling of the difference between news and opinion, responsible gathering and presentation of information, avoidance of deceptive headlines, and more.
“As a publication rooted in the idea that people crave reliable, unbiased, and facts-based news coverage, we are thrilled to be recognized for delivering on that promise,” stated Taylor Davis, Chief Product Officer of SAN. “Both NewsGuard and AllSides are respected, independent analysts of the vast media landscape. In the face of polarized politics and sensationalized coverage, we’re proud to uphold our high standards across editorial operations and continue to publish coverage you can trust.”
Through both an Expert Editorial Review and a Blind Bias Survey featuring 816 participants, AllSides analyzed the political bias of the Straight Arrow News’ digital, written reporting, and video content. The audit resulted in a rating of Center (+0.04), meaning SAN met the criteria for AllSides Balance Certification™ for the second year in a row, while moving even closer to the center.
NewsGuard does not accept any fees from publishers it rates. The AllSides bias audit was requested and paid for by Straight Arrow News, but AllSides receives no additional compensation if a news outlet qualifies for Balance Certification. AllSides has rated the bias of over 2,400 media outlets.
