Let’s discuss the approaches that so far, Trump and his campaign have taken against Kamala Harris and Tim walls to try to take the wind out of their sails, to try to diminish their momentum as the Democratic National Convention get started and presumably, presumably, Kamala Harris is polling will peak somewhere around this time, then becoming a question of what happens next. So let’s first start with the things that very much have not been working, and then we’ll talk about maybe things that that might one line of attack against Kamala Harris has focused on the

intangibles related to her race. They haven’t gone after her because she is a non white woman, but it’s been used somewhat more subtly to make different points. One was at the N, A, B, J interview that Trump did this idea that Kamala Harris, according to Trump, used to be Indian but became black. The idea that it’s similar to when Elizabeth Warren talked about her Native American heritage or whatever, this has mostly failed to help. Number one, because it’s very obvious that Kamala Harris is half Indian and half black, black, including people of African origin from anywhere, right? There’s this sort of academic discussion as to whether Jamaicans are black, by the definition that is usually used. They are, although Jamaicans are not African American, but as someone who now is an American with African origin, certainly, Kamala Harris is black. She’s also Indian, and it’s mostly fallen flat because it comes off, quite frankly, as racist. Number two, there have been claims about Kamala Harris being dumb. Donald Trump has said it a few times,

failing the bar exam the first time she took it, which, by the way, is not the rarest thing as as lawyers will tell you. And number three, more generally, being a D, E, I hire, the suggestion being someone of her capacity, who were White would not have given given the opportunity she got, that she got those opportunities through some kind of affirmative action because of her racial makeup. This is also really not working. And the way we know it’s not working is number one, in general, Kamala Harris is polling continues to improve. Number two, she’s out fundraising Donald Trump dramatically. Number three, we’re hearing anecdotally from panels of voters that they

find it to be disgusting to go after her in this way. And number four, because it’s pretty obviously simply not true, and she seems you you cannot like her politics. You cannot like the policies she would put forward, but she is competent and formidable when it comes to her ability to engage on any of these topics. And the idea that she’s there because of some quite so some sort of affirmative action is pretty laughable. So then we get to then we get to what Tim Miller and other Republican strategists have said is probably the right way to go after her wishes. She’s far left, her policies would be bad. This is marginally more substantive and that they are direct character assassinations. The problem is that as far as Trump is executing these criticisms, he’s saying the same things about Kamala Harris that he said about Joe Biden, which didn’t come true,

and that’s causing a credibility issue. In 2020 Trump would say about Joe Biden. If Biden wins, we will have a 1929 style depression. And of course, we’ve had stock market all time high after stock market, all time high after stock market all time high, many, many times over. And when Trump now says, Oh, if Kamala Harris wins, we will have a 1929 style depression. It falls flat because he has no credibility on it. He already fired that round out of his gun for lack of a better term, and it missed. And so it causes a credibility problem. He has said, Trump has that Kamala Harris wants to defund the police. She’s never said that. And in fact, there are people on the left who are skeptical of Harris because she played they call it cop Mala as Attorney General of California, and was too much on the side of the police. So that’s not really working. So the point here is, if we zoom out, none of this stuff has been landing. So far, the attacks on Tim walls haven’t been let none of it’s been landing. But if they want their best opportunity, it is that generic playbook, which I don’t think we’re.

Work because it’s clearly untrue, but it’s the generic playbook of this is a far, far left ideologue who will be dangerous to the country. Saying she’s dumb isn’t working. Maybe the standard political attacks will work better, or if you have a better idea of and by the way, why do we care? It’s a curiosity.
