In his recent address to Congress, President Donald Trump suggested that Derek Chauvin, the man convicted of the murder of George Floyd, should be pardoned. Trump also declared that he would order anyone convicted of killing a police officer to be executed by the state. Those comments follow Trump’s controversial blanket pardons for all Jan. 6 criminals, including for violent extremists convicted of assaulting police officers, which he issued immediately after his inauguration.
Watch the above video as Straight Arrow News contributor Dr. Rashad Richey reviews comments coming from the far-right MAGA camp and argues that the nation is effectively now being run by race-baiting “trolls.”
The following is an excerpt from the above video:
So, ladies and gentlemen, it is official. Our country, this United States of America, is being run by who? Trolls. Not regular trolls, but the bigoted race-baiting trolls.
At one point in this nation, it was damn near universal that everybody believed what they saw was what they saw. Remember when George Floyd was killed by the hands of Derek Chauvin, the cop? This happened in broad daylight. Onlookers telling him to stop. People looking at this, saying, “Don’t do this. Stop! He’s going to die!” Other cops making sure nobody gets involved, nobody could intervene, nobody could help. Chauvin convicted by a jury of his peers for murder. Those other officers convicted as well.
The vast majority of us were on the same page. What we saw was a murder.
Now, all of a sudden, Trump back in the White House, narratives are starting to be rewritten. Ben Shapiro is making a plea, a campaign to pardon Derek Chauvin. Backing the play is the de facto commander in chief, Elon Musk, the oligarch who truly controls the White House, reposting the madness.
