President Biden’s representatives offer platitudes about peaceful protests. But the President is saying very little, and he has not taken any meaningful action to hold university officials or the agitators accountable. House Speaker Mike Johnson had to weigh in. He he condemned the protests that were shutting down many campuses. He went to Columbia University and called on the university president to get the situation under control or resign. This before what we saw at the Hamilton building, the speaker is bringing legislation to the House floor now that would require the Department of Education to clearly define anti semitism in its enforcement of anti discrimination laws. House Education and Workforce chair, Virginia Foxx delivered a blunt message to Columbia University’s president in quotes, the inmates are running the asylum take back control of this one. It’s a great institution. If not, the Committee will pursue every possible avenue to create a safe learning environment for Jewish students in quote from Congresswoman Fox. Governors in Florida, Texas, Virginia, among others, authorized strong enforcement that included the arrest of protesters who are making it impossible for students of all faiths and races to learn. The response was much different in other states and cities. Protesters at George Washington University here in Washington DC tore down metal barriers, and they set up tents in the middle of a street. University officials and local politicians failed to intercede on behalf of the students who wanted to attend classes, prepare for final exams and participate in graduation ceremonies at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus protesters also set up dents and bow to stay as long as possible, even weeks until their demands are met. They can’t be consistent on what those demands are. But it continues the President of University of Southern California met multiple times with encampment organizers and the university canceled its mainstage graduation ceremony. Not to be outdone by their USC competitors. Dozens of UCLA faculty members and staff staged a walkout joining anti Israel protesters who had been camping around the clock on campus. parents, students and benefactors who believe in the rights of all students to have a learning experience that they invested in. They should take note of who’s standing with their students and who’s standing with the mob. They need to use their checkbooks and their ballots to demand equal application of the law and true academic freedom.
