Biden’s foreign policy riddled with errors and misfortune

President Biden entered office with a promise to repair the damage inflicted by former President Trump on the international stage. He vowed to prioritize values like democracy and human rights while also aiming to end the “forever wars” in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

Yet, some critics argue that U.S. foreign policy has been marked by a string of failures, including a weak approach to immigration and border policies, troubled peace initiatives in the Middle East and the proliferation of nuclear capabilities among rival powers.

Straight Arrow News contributor Newt Gingrich expresses concern over recent blunders in U.S. foreign policy and highlights a pattern of missteps dating back to Biden’s tenure as vice president.

And then we had the Israeli crisis caused by an all-out assault on October 7, with 1,100 Israelis killed, with others taken hostage, with women gang raped, with babies killed — the Israelis were furious and decided they would have to get even, and they would have to make sure it would never happen again. So they began a policy of going into Gaza and methodically hunting down and destroying Hamas as a military force. Finally, they pushed into the last great city: Rafah. And then Joe Biden decided to announce that he wanted Rafah to become a sanctuary city for terrorists, that the Israelis shouldn’t go in. Now, that would mean that Hamas would survive. They would have won the strategic war, even if they’d lost everything else.

In the middle of that argument, the Israelis found the two Iranian generals who had killed the people on October 7. These were the generals who designed the attack, planned the attack, provided the weapons for the attack and trained Hamas. And the Israelis went after them and killed them in Damascus with a bombing raid. Well, that infuriated the government of Iran. So the government of Iran said we’re gonna send 335 missiles and other vehicles, and we’re gonna really hammer Israel. And when asked what the American position was, Biden once again said: “Don’t.” But in fact, the Iranians did 335 times. So now you have this policy. Biden says “don’t,” the bad guys do, and Biden does nothing.

And now we’re encouraging that the Israelis absorb the attacks and do nothing. Somehow, it’s dangerous to be Joe Biden’s friend. If you’re his enemy, he’ll find an excuse. But if you’re a friend, he’s gonna find a way to weaken you. That should trouble every American.

There are some very disturbing developments in our foreign policy and the Biden administration. And in some ways they grow out of the Obama administration where Biden was the vice president. It started I think, when you had Barack Obama say that if the Syrians used chemical weapons, they would cross a red line. And that kind of applied massive American response, while the Syrians use chemical weapons, and we did nothing. Then you had the military tell President Biden, that if we pulled out too fast, the pro American Afghan government would probably collapse. And the Taliban would probably take over. He just ignored him. So we pulled out and they collapsed, precisely as the American military had warned President Biden, then he announced a firm position about whether or not Putin would invade Ukraine. He said, Don’t that’s my word don’t. Well, Putin did. And then we adopted a very one sided policy. We said it was okay for the Russians to invade Ukraine, bomb Ukraine, attack Ukrainian cities. So Ukraine could not hit back. They were not allowed to attack Russia. So they were forced into a totally defensive position. And then, we had the Israeli crisis caused by an all out assault on October 7, with 1100 Israelis killed, with others taken hostage with women gang raped with babies killed, the Israelis were furious, and decided they would have to get even, and they would have to make sure it would never happen again. So they began a policy of going into Gaza, and methodically hunting down and destroying Hamas as a military force. Finally, they pushed into the last great city profits. And then Joe Biden decided to announce that he wanted Rafa to become a sanctuary city for terrorists that the Israeli shouldn’t go in. Now, that would mean that Hamas would survive, they would have won the strategic war, even if they’d lost everything else. The middle of that argument, the Israelis found the two Iranian generals who had killed the people on October 7, these were the generals who designed the attack plan, the attack provided the weapons for the attack, and trained Hamas. And the Israelis went after them and killed them in Damascus, with a bombing rate. Well, that infuriated the government of Iran. So the government of Iran said, We’re gonna send 335 missiles and other vehicles, and we’re gonna really hammer Israel. And when asked what the American position was, Biden once again said, don’t, but in fact, the Iranians did 335 times. So now you have this policy.
