Vance is overwhelming favorite to be Trump’s successor in CPAC straw poll

At the Conservative Political Action Conference, Vice President JD Vance received 61% support in a straw poll as the likely successor to President Donald Trump. He’s viewed as the leading candidate for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination in 2028.

Steve Bannon secured second place in the CPAC poll with 12%, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis received 7%.

Jim McLaughlin, president of McLaughlin & Associates Polls, noted that CPAC polls historically predict GOP nominees accurately.

Vance’s win makes him the first person other than Trump to lead in the CPAC straw poll since 2016.

Trump’s approval rating was found to be 99%, and many attendees praised the rapid passage of his agenda during his current administration.

Vance received a standing ovation at CPAC for defending his controversial remarks in Europe and for his strong support of Trump’s policies.
