The U.S. General Services Administration is shutting down electric vehicle chargers on federal properties nationwide. Starting next week, both government and private vehicles will be unable to use them.
Federal workers received a memo stating that the GSA would shut down charging stations, which could increase taxpayers’ costs.
The General Services Administration stated that GSA-owned charging stations are not mission-critical and will be removed from service after their contracts expire.
The dismantling of chargers is a setback for plans to electrify the federal fleet, which will impact efforts to promote clean energy and electric vehicle adoption.
