Texas Sees 51% Drop In Border Apprehensions After Operation Lone Star Expands

In Texas, Border Patrol apprehensions dropped by 51% in one year, according to federal data. The reported apprehensions fell from 1,045,655 in fiscal 2023 to 534,333 in fiscal 2024.

This decrease followed the hiring of Texas’ first border czar, Mike Banks, who implemented a new strategy.

When looking at Border Patrol data alone, there were more than 511,000 fewer apprehensions in Texas year over year, which represents a 51% drop.
