A federal court blocked the Trump administration from sending three Venezuelan immigrants to Guantánamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba on Sunday, Feb. 9. Lawyers argued that the detainees fit the profile prioritized for Guantánamo detention, citing false charges related to the Tren de Aragua gang.

Judge Kenneth J. Gonzales granted a temporary restraining order, despite opposition from the government, according to attorney Jessica Vosburgh.

The Center for Constitutional Rights, the American Civil Liberties Union of New Mexico, and Las Americas Immigrant Advisory Center filed the lawsuit.
