Massachusetts lawmakers push for an effort to ban all tobacco sales over time

Massachusetts lawmakers are working on a proposal to gradually ban all sales of tobacco products, the first of its kind in the state. If approved, young people will never be lawfully able to purchase nicotine products, preventing new tobacco users.
State Sen. Jason Lewis, D, stated the bill would “save countless lives and create a healthier world for the next generation.” A law passed in 2018 in the state saw the age to buy tobacco products rise to 21, also banning the sale of flavored tobacco products to lower interest in such products among youth.
