DHS’ Kristi Noem says Trump admin will resume construction of 7 miles of southern border wall

Construction of seven miles of the southern border wall in Arizona began on Sunday, March 16, as announced by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in a video statement. Customs and Border Protection awarded a $70 million contract for border wall construction to Granite Construction Co., which seeks to address illegal crossings and smuggling.

Trump built over 450 miles of wall during his first term, but Biden ended construction in 2021, citing a new approach to immigration. Vice President JD Vance expressed the hope that, by the end of Trump’s second term, the entire border wall would be completed.
