Customs and Border Protection official charged in FEMA fraud scheme

A director at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Serina Baker-Hill, has been charged with attempting to defraud the Federal Emergency Management Agency. She is also accused of lying to federal agents, according to FBI Director Kash Patel.

Baker-Hill applied for FEMA assistance after flooding in Detroit in August 2023, claiming her home was unlivable during repairs.

Investigators found evidence showing Baker-Hill misused FEMA funds, with bank records and surveillance footage contradicting her claims.

Baker-Hill denied any wrongdoing in an interview with FBI agents, maintaining she had never defrauded the government.
