Pharmaceutical company Merck announced the success of their new experimental antiviral pill to fight COVID-19, as clinical trials showed a reduction in hospitalizations and death from patients recently infected with COVID-19. Pfizer is also developing a COVID antiviral pill, having announced a large-scale study at the end of September. The drug would be used to minimize the infection and symptoms after an exposure to COVID or a positive test.
