Merck and Pfizer are developing antiviral pills to fight COVID-19.

Full story

Pharmaceutical company Merck announced the success of their new experimental antiviral pill to fight COVID-19, as clinical trials showed a reduction in hospitalizations and death from patients recently infected with COVID-19. Pfizer is also developing a COVID antiviral pill, having announced a large-scale study at the end of September. The drug would be used to minimize the infection and symptoms after an exposure to COVID or a positive test.

Experts say antivirals have a proven track record; just look at how Tamiflu treats the flu and Antiretroviral treats HIV. Straight Arrow News medical expert Dr. Payal Kohli says if the pills are successful, they could be a ‘game changer’ for the pandemic.
