TAKE SOT- President Donald Trump
<<”“First of all, it’s an official document, you’re not allowed, it’s illegal what she did. She broke the law.”>>
Annie Andersen: THAT WAS THEN PRESIDENT TRUMP BACK IN 2020 AFTER SPEAKER NANCY PELOSI RIPPED A PHOTOCOPY OF HIS STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS.
THE LAW TRUMP IS TALKING ABOUT- THE PRESIDENTIAL RECORDS ACT OF 1978…
AND NOW HE’S ACCUSED OF BREAKING THAT SAME LAW.
THE LATEST- THE WASHINGTON POST IS REPORTING THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES HAD TO GO TO FLORIDA TO GET WHITE HOUSE RECORDS FROM MAR-A-LAGO.
WHAT THEY FOUND… MULTIPLE BOXES
INCLUDING LETTERS FROM NORTH KOREA’S KIM JONG UN…
THAT TRUMP HAD PREVIOUSLY DESCRIBED AS ‘LOVE LETTERS’
TAKE SOT- JACKIE ALEMANY, Washington Post
<<”These records belong to the American public and the former president did not give two shreds about any of these documents that were going through the White House.”>>
Annie Andersen: THIS IS JUST THE LATEST REPORTING THAT TRUMP VIOLATED THE PRESIDENTIAL RECORDS ACT.
IN 2018… POLITICO BROKE THE NEWS THAT TRUMP OFTEN RIPPED UP DOCUMENTS..
AND JUST LAST WEEK THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES CONFIRMED SOME OF THE DOCUMENTS REQUESTED BY THE JANUARY 6 SELECTION COMMITTEE HAD BEEN TAPED BACK TOGETHER…
BUT SOME …ACCORDING TO THE POST.. WERE SHREDDED AND COULDN’T BE FIXED..
NOT ONLY THAT… THE POST SAYS TRUMP’S TEAM ROUTINELY USED “BURN BAGS” TO DESTROY DOCUMENTS RATHER THAN SAVE THEM.
CONGRESS PASSED THE PRESIDENTIAL RECORDS ACT AFTER THE WATERGATE SCANDAL.
IT SAYS ALL PRESIDENTIAL DOCUMENTS MUST BE SAVED UNTIL THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES DECIDES IF THEY NEED THEM OR NOT.
AND THAT THOSE DOCUMENTS BELONG TO THE GOVERNMENT… NOT THE PRESIDENT.
BUT AS FOR THE PUNISHMENT IF TRUMP DID VIOLATE THE ACT… AS THE STATUTE READS… IT COULD BE A FINE OR EVEN JAIL TIME.. BUT. NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE CALLED THE LAW “TOOTHLESS” BECAUSE ENFORCING IT JUST DOESN’T HAPPEN.
