Vaccine mandate? What the Executive Order means for private businesses

Full story

President Joe Biden’s vaccine regulations for the private sector is getting slammed by some and praised by others. Some, go so far as to call it unconstitutional, while others are saying it’s just what is needed to end the pandemic.

What exactly is in the vaccine regulations?

Let’s get this straight.

The private sector regulations apply to all private businesses with more than 100 employees. Those companies must either require the vaccine or test unvaccinated people weekly. Companies with more than a hundred employees must also provide paid time off for workers to get vaccinated, as well as if they suffer side effects from the vaccine.

This is estimated to impact about 80 million Americans.

The Biden Administration plans to do this through the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA.

OSHA is able to set emergency standard when workers are in grave danger due to new hazards.

Business not complying with the regulations can face fines of up to $14,000.

Biden also issued a vaccine requirement for most federal workers, as well as federal government contractors.

This vaccine requirement is only for executive employees, and so would not include legislative or judicial workers. It also allows for exceptions for religion and health reasons.

Together, Biden’s regulations will impact about 100 million Americans.
