Full story

Former President Donald Trump is calling out his own daughter on his Truth Social platform. The January 6th Committee showed video from Ivanka Trump’s deposition during its primetime hearing Thursday. The video revealed she believed then-Attorney General Bill Barr’s statements that there was no widespread fraud in the 2020 election.

“It affected my perspective. I respect Attorney General Barr. So I accepted what he was saying,” Ivanka Trump said. She served as an adviser to her father throughout his administration.

The former president responded to his daughter’s statements on his social media platform, Truth Social, saying, “Ivanka Trump was not involved in looking at, or studying, Election results. She had long since checked out and was, in my opinion, only trying to be respectful to Bill Barr and his position as Attorney General (he sucked!).”

During the primetime hearing, the committee also played a clip of former Attorney General Barr’s deposition regarding allegations that Dominion Voting machines changed votes.

“And I told them that it was, it was crazy stuff and they were wasting their time on that. And it was doing a great grave disservice to the country,” Barr said.

Interviews with rioters played during the hearing revealed they showed up that day because they believed Donald Trump asked them to attend.

“What really made me want to come is the fact that you know I had supported Trump all that time, I did believe, you know, that the election was being stolen and Trump asked us to come,” said Robert Scrnack, who was sentenced to 36 months probation.

“He personally asked us to come to DC that day. And I thought for everything he’s done for us, if this is the only thing he’s going to ask of me, I’ll do it,” Eric Barber said. Barber was seen in photographs walking through the Capitol on Jan. 6 wearing a military style helmet.

The committee and the hearing have been heavily criticized by Republicans

“In fact it is the most political, and least legitimate committee in American history,” Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said. “It has used congressional subpoenas to attack Republicans, violate due process and infringe on the political speech of private citizens.”

Rep. Liz Cheney, Wyo., the top Republican on the committee, had a stern message for her party.

“I say this to my Republican colleagues who are defending the indefensible: There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain,” she said.

The next hearings are Monday, June 13 at 10 a.m. ET and Wednesday, June 15 at 10 a.m. ET.
