New York City police officers endured a challenging week as they said goodbye to one of their own, Jonathan Diller. The 31-year-old was fatally shot in the stomach during a routine traffic stop in Far Rockaway, New York, Monday, March 25. Diller served on the force for three years and leaves behind a wife and a 1-year-old son.

A 34-year-old man from Queens with 20 prior arrests has been charged with Diller’s murder, according to New York Mayor Eric Adams, D.

Thousands of supporters attended candlelight vigils to honor Diller and his dedication to service. Former President Donald Trump attended Diller’s wake service in Massapequa Park on Thursday, March 28.

“President Trump is moved by the invitation to join NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller’s family and colleagues as they deal with his senseless and tragic death,” a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign said in a statement.

Trump could be seen shaking hands and speaking with people before entering the funeral home.

Trump posted about Diller’s killing on his social media platform Truth Social, offering prayers and appreciation for Diller’s family and the law enforcement community.

Trump also noted that the suspect charged had numerous prior arrests and “never should have been let back out on the streets.”

President Joe Biden called Adams to offer his condolences to Diller’s family, and White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said their hearts go out to Diller’s family.

Diller’s funeral is set for the morning of March 30.

TWO SUSPECTS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AND A 34-YEAR-OLD MAN FROM QUEENS – WHO HAD 20 PRIOR ARRESTS ACCORDING TO NEW YORK MAYOR ERIC ADAMS – HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH DILLER’S MURDER.

OVER THE LAST THREE DAYS, THOUSANDS OF SUPPORTERS HAVE SHOWN UP TO CANDLELIGHT VIGILS TO HONOR DILLER AND HIS LIFE OF SERVICE.

EVEN FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP ATTENDED DILLER’S WAKE SERVICE IN MASSAPEQUA PARK THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

TRUMP ALSO NOTED – THE SUSPECT CHARGED HAD NUMEROUS PRIOR ARRESTS AND “NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN LET BACK OUT ON THE STREETS.” 

PRESIDENT BIDEN CALLED MAYOR ADAMS THURSDAY TO OFFER HIS CONDOLENCES TO DILLER’S FAMILY AND WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY KARINE JEAN-PIERRE SAID THEIR HEARTS GO OUT TO OFFICER DILLER’S FAMILY.

DILLER’S FUNERAL IS SET FOR SATURDAY MORNING.
