“In all seriousness, does anyone think government is perfect? Is there any American who thinks it’s perfect and shouldn’t be touched? No, obviously, there are ways we can make government more efficient, and there are ways we can save money,” Moskowitz said. “The Pentagon hasn’t passed an audit in seven years. I think the Department of Homeland Security has become too big, and that has a lot to do with the giant bureaucracy over there. This is a conversation that’s going to happen with or without Democrats at the table, and I think Democrats should be part of that conversation.”
Moskowitz stated that reducing government waste should not be a partisan issue. His decision to join the caucus aligns with his broader efforts to promote cross-party collaboration in Washington.
He has previously initiated programs such as a weekly lunch series with Republican colleagues and the Congressional Sneaker Caucus, both designed to foster communication and find common ground between Democrats and Republicans.

Moskowitz has said his goal is to show the American people that lawmakers can disagree but still work together on practical solutions, including reducing the nation’s $36 trillion debt and eliminating government waste.
The DOGE Caucus, which already includes more than 30 Republican lawmakers, is also working with figures like President-elect Donald Trump, Elon Musk and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. Moskowitz is now the only Democrat in the group and hopes others will join him at the table.
