This past Monday, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) signed the “Parental Rights in Education” bill, known by critics as the “don’t say gay” bill, into state law. It bans instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through the third grade.
Those in favor of the law say it makes perfect sense and is in the best interest of parents and children. Opponents, including companies like Disney, say banning lessons about gender identity and sexual orientation marginalizes LGBTQ people and their presence in society.
