The more partisan the politician…the more press coverage they get.
Evidently, that was the case in the 2022 midterms, according to a study out of George Mason University in collaboration with the nonprofit Starts with Us.
The study shows “hyper-partisan politicians” received 4 times the press coverage their bipartisan colleagues did.
For example, both Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and Representative Don Bacon are Republicans. The researchers deemed Greene “hyper-partisan” and found she was in 335 news items over the course of the 2 months studied…while Bacon was in 34, even though he was in a tighter race for reelection.
Some of the other, “most hyper-partisan” politicians mentioned in the study include Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Maxine Waters, Norma Torres, John Kennedy, Paul Gosar, and Matt Gaetz.
