Russia oil executive dies in ‘fall from hospital window’

The chairman of Russia’s Lukoil oil giant, Ravil Maganov, has died after falling from a window in a Moscow hospital, according to a source cited by Russian news agency Interfax. The company confirmed his death but said Maganov “passed away following a severe illness”. Russian media said he was being treated at Moscow’s Central Clinical Hospital and died of his injuries. Russian state officials said he died by suicide.

Maganov is the latest of a number of high-profile business executives to die in mysterious circumstances. Four months ago, an energy board member died supposedly of poison from a toad after receiving treatment from a shaman. Two others were found dead inside their homes along with family members in separate murder-suicides.

Shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine, the Lukoil board called for the conflict to end as soon as possible, expressing its sympathy to victims of this tragedy. Lukoil is Russia’s largest private oil company.
