Report: Trump expected to reveal VP choice Monday as RNC kicks off

Full story

Fox News reporter Bret Baier said Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will announce his pick for his vice president sometime on Monday, July 15. Baier made the comments during an appearance on Fox News.

Former President Trump is expected to reveal his choice ahead of the Republican National Convention’s (RNC) formal vote on Monday evening, according to sources familiar with the plans.

The RNC’s first floor session begins at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee on Monday, July 15, with events running into the evening.

Top contenders for the vice-presidential slot include Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, R, and Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. Vance was reportedly spotted leaving his home in Ohio on Monday morning.

Security at the RNC has been heightened following the July 13 assassination attempt on Trump, but the convention is schedule to go on as planned.

All three reported contenders have become staunch supporters of the former president. Vance and Burgum appeared outside Trump’s criminal hush money trial in New York City to denounce the prosecution, and again after Trump’s conviction on all 34 counts of falsifying business records. Meanwhile, Rubio compared the case to show trials in Cuba under Fidel Castro.
