What was Curry’s reaction to the milestone?
“To have that moment in front of your fans like that was special –– I could feel the energy and the buzz from the beginning of the game,” Curry said. “After I made my first three, even the second one, I shot and missed. It was an adrenaline rush, and they were with me every moment of the game tonight. And when the second one went in, I knew there’s a lot of game left, so I tried to not get too ahead of myself –– but it was a special moment.”
Widely regarded as the greatest shooter of all time, Curry, who turned 37 years old on Friday, March 14, is the engine that drove the Warriors to four championships between 2015 and 2021. His shooting prowess changed how the game is played, perhaps best summed up by teammate Draymond Green.
“He’s been a steward for this game the way he’s carried this franchise on his back,” Green said. “What he’s done for the NBA, the league as a whole, happy to be here to see it, to be a small part of it. But more importantly, witness greatness on a nightly basis.”
Who is the next closest player?
Curry set the three-point record in December 2021, surpassing the retired Ray Allen. The next closest is 35-year-old James Harden of the Los Angeles Clippers. Harden is still active, but he’s more than 800 three-pointers behind Curry. Damien Lillard and Curry’s former teammate, Klay Thompson, are also still active and round out the top five.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was asked last night how far Curry might go.

“8,000? Yeah, who knows?” Kerr said to much laughter from the media. “It seems like it was not too long ago that he broke the record, and what was that, less than 3,000, yeah? So, he just keeps going. The way he keeps himself in shape, in condition, in rhythm. He’s gonna make another thousand for sure; that’s what I would guess. But who knows.”
In addition to the milestone, the Warriors are still climbing the Western Conference standings. The win over Sacramento was their sixth straight, and they’ve posted a 13-1 record since newly acquired star Jimmy Butler entered the lineup.
Thursday night Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry hit a milestone that won’t be broken for decades, if ever. 4,000 three pointers made in his 16-year career, and he’s not done yet.

Take a look at how far Curry is ahead of the rest of the three-point leaders. He set the record back in December of 2021 passing Ray Allen. 35 yr old James Harden of the LA Clippers is still playing but he’s more than 800 behind. Damien Lillard and Steph’s former teammate Klay Thompson are also still active. So, how far can Curry go?
“8,000? Yeah, who knows? Y’know it seems like it was not too long ago that he broke the record and what was that, less than 3000, yeah? So, he just keeps going. The way he keeps himself in shape, in condition, in rhythm. He’s gonna make another thousand for sure, that’s what I would guess, but who knows.”
And through all this the Warriors are climbing the standings. Thursday, they picked up their 6th straight win and they’re 13-1 since newly acquired star Jimmy Butler entered the lineup, the perfect complement to Steph’s three pointers.

Ultraprocessed food makers scramble to adapt as studies highlight health risks
By Kennedy Felton (Lifestyle Correspondent/Producer), Bast Bramhall (Video Editor)
- A government-funded study on ultraprocessed foods pays participants $5,000 to follow diets rich in items like chicken nuggets. Preliminary results suggest these foods lead to higher calorie intake and weight gain, potentially shaping health policies.
- Weight-loss drugs like Ozempic are altering food preferences, encouraging less processed options.
- Food brands are adapting to “GLP-1 friendly” labels while researchers study potential long-term risks, such as vision loss.
Full Story
A new government-funded study is examining the health effects of ultraprocessed foods. Participants are being paid $5,000 to follow a diet heavy in processed items like chicken nuggets.
The Associated Press got an exclusive look into the study conducted at a government research facility. Its goal is to understand how these foods impact overall health. Researchers are particularly interested in ultraprocessed foods, which make up over 73% of the U.S. food supply, according to a Nature Communications study.

Junk food and health risks
Under strict supervision, participants alternated between ultraprocessed and less processed diets. Scientists monitored their calorie intake and physiological responses.
Early findings suggest that ultraprocessed foods lead to significantly higher calorie consumption and weight gain. One researcher told Fortune that the study’s short duration could limit results. However, the data may still influence future health policies.
“Make America Healthy Again” initiative
The study aligns with efforts by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. His “Make America Healthy Again” initiative promotes the removal of certain artificial dyes and additives from food.
While Kennedy’s focus is on children’s health, he argues that ultraprocessed foods harm all age groups. However, one group may already be adjusting their diets.
Weight-loss drugs changing eating habits
A New York Times study highlights that GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, like Ozempic and Wegovy, are altering consumer habits. One subject, a former sugar addict, now finds processed sweets unappealing.

A professor at New York University told the Times that these drugs reduce appetites and rewire food preferences. Many users crave fresher, less processed options.
Big food companies react to shifting trends
Major food companies are feeling the effects of these dietary shifts. A PwC study found that GLP-1 users spend 11% less on food, particularly salty snacks and baked goods.
In response, brands like Conagra are launching “GLP-1 friendly” products. These items are labeled as high-protein and low-calorie to attract consumers using weight-loss medications.
Long-term effects of weight-loss drugs
However, the rise of GLP-1 drugs is not without concerns. Researchers are now studying their long-term effects. A February study is investigating a possible link between these medications and vision loss.
[KENNEDY FELTON]
A new government-funded study is putting ultra-processed foods under scrutiny, paying participants $5,000 to eat diets rich in items like chicken nuggets. As weight-loss drugs like Ozempic curb appetites and reshape eating habits, could this research mark the beginning of the end for junk food as we know it?
The Associated Press had an exclusive look at a National Institutes of Health study where participants spent a month in a government hospital. The study aimed to explore how certain foods impact health, given existing research on increased cancer risk and inflammation linked to ultra-processed foods, which make up more than 73% of the U.S. food supply, according to a Nature Communications study.
Participants, under strict supervision, ate as little or as much of the provided ultra-processed foods while scientists monitored their calorie intake and physiological responses. Although one researcher pointed out the study’s short length as a limitation, preliminary results revealed participants consumed significantly more calories on an ultra-processed diet, leading to weight gain—findings that could influence future health policies.
The “Make America Healthy Again” initiative, led by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., seeks to improve public health. As part of this effort, food companies are being urged to remove harmful additives like artificial dyes from their products to enhance safety. However, when it comes to junk food, some groups may already be benefiting from these changes.
The rise of GLP-1 weight-loss drugs such as Ozempic and Wegovy is transforming eating habits. A New York Times article highlighted one user, a man once struggling with sugar addiction, who now finds himself unable to tolerate sweet treats. According to a historian and professor at NYU, these drugs not only suppress appetite but also alter food preferences, encouraging consumers to favor fresher, less processed options.
Major food companies are adapting to this shift. A PwC study revealed that GLP-1 users spend about 11% less on most food categories, especially salty snacks and baked goods. Brands like Conagra have started labeling products as “GLP-1 friendly,” emphasizing high-protein and low-calorie options to attract this evolving consumer base.
While these drugs offer new hope for weight-loss solutions, researchers are also examining their long-term effects. One recent study is investigating a potential link between these medications and vision loss.

DHS announces second arrest in connection to campus protests
By Lauren Taylor (Anchor/Repoter), Michael Edwards (Video Editor)
- The Department of Homeland Security arrested Leqaa Kordia, a Palestinian student, for overstaying her F-1 visa and participating in pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University. A second student, Ranjani Srinivasan, self-deported using the CBP Home app after her visa was revoked for allegedly supporting Hamas.
- Protests continued at Columbia after federal agents entered dorms Thursday night with a judicial warrant.

Kordia previously had been arrested in 2024 for her involvement in the spring pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University.
The second student, Ranjani Srinivasan, an Indian citizen, “was involved in activities supporting Hamas, a terrorist organization,” according to DHS. Earlier this month, DHS revoked her visa. Officials later provided video surveillance of Srinivasan using the CBP Home app to self-deport on March 11.
In a statement, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said, “It is a privilege to be granted a visa to live and study in the United States of America. When you advocate for violence and terrorism, that privilege should be revoked, and you should not be in this country. I am glad to see one of the Columbia University terrorist sympathizers use the CBP Home App to self-deport.”
Protests continued on Columbia’s campus Friday, March 14. They occurred hours after DHS agents entered two student dorm rooms on campus the night before.

Columbia’s Interim President, Katrina Armstrong, said in a statement that no one had been arrested, no items were removed, and no further action had been taken. She said federal agents had a signed warrant from a federal judge to enter certain non-public areas of campus.
“The university requires that law enforcement have a judicial warrant to enter non-public university areas, including residential university buildings,” Armstrong said. “Tonight, that threshold was met, and the university is obligated to comply with the law.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the Trump administration will revoke more student visas in the coming days.
THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY ANNOUNCED THE ARREST OF A SECOND PERSON ALLEGEDLY INVOLVED WITH CAMPUS PROTESTS AND RIOTS LAST SPRING, ALONG WITH THE REVOCATION OF A VISA FOR ANOTHER STUDENT WHO SELF-DEPORTED.
FEDERAL IMMIGRATION OFFICERS TOOK LEQAA KORDIA, A PALESTINIAN FROM THE WEST BANK, INTO CUSTODY FOR OVERSTAYING HER F-1 VISA, WHICH TERMINATED IN JANUARY 2022 ACCORDING TO THE AGENCY, AND “FOR HER INVOLVEMENT IN PRO-HAMAS PROTESTS AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY IN NEW YORK CITY.”
KORDIA HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY ARRESTED IN 2024 FOR HER INVOLVEMENT IN THE SPRING PRO-PALESTINIAN PROTESTS AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY.
THE SECOND STUDENT, RANJANI SRINIVASAN IS AN INDIAN CITIZEN AND NATIONAL, AND “WAS INVOLVED IN ACTIVITIES SUPPORTING HAMAS, A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION” ACCORDING TO DHS. EARLIER THIS MONTH, DHS REVOKED HER VISA. DHS PROVIDED THIS VIDEO SURVEILLANCE OF HER USING THE CBP HOME APP TO SELF DEPORT ON MARCH 11.
IN A STATEMENT, DHS SECRETARY KRISTI NOEM SAID “IT IS A PRIVILEGE TO BE GRANTED A VISA TO LIVE AND STUDY IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. WHEN YOU ADVOCATE FOR VIOLENCE AND TERRORISM THAT PRIVILEGE SHOULD BE REVOKED, AND YOU SHOULD NOT BE IN THIS COUNTRY. I AM GLAD TO SEE ONE OF THE COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY TERRORIST SYMPATHIZERS USE THE CBP HOME APP TO SELF-DEPORT.”
PROTESTS CONTINUED ON COLUMBIA’S CAMPUS FRIDAY AFTERNOON – HOURS AFTER DHS AGENTS ENTERED TWO STUDENT DORM ROOMS ON CAMPUS THURSDAY NIGHT, ACCORDING TO THE IVY LEAGUE INSTITUTION.
COLUMBIA’S INTERIM PRESIDENT, KATRINA ARMSTRONG SAID IN A STATEMENT THAT NO ONE HAD BEEN ARRESTED, NO ITEMS WERE REMOVED AND NO FURTHER ACTION HAD BEEN TAKEN.
SHE SAID FEDERAL AGENTS HAD A SIGNED WARRANT FROM A FEDERAL JUDGE TO ENTER CERTAIN NON-PUBLIC AREAS OF CAMPUS.
“THE UNIVERSITY REQUIRES THAT LAW ENFORCEMENT HAVE A JUDICIAL WARRANT TO ENTER NON-PUBLIC UNIVERSITY AREAS, INCLUDING RESIDENTIAL UNIVERSITY BUILDINGS. TONIGHT, THAT THRESHOLD WAS MET, AND THE UNIVERSITY IS OBLIGATED TO COMPLY WITH THE LAW.”
SECRETARY OF STATE MARCO RUBIO SAID THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION WILL BE REVOKING MORE STUDENT VIAS IN THE COMING DAYS.

Democrats demand probe into Musk over White House Tesla event
By Ray Bogan (Political Correspondent), Snorre Wik (Photographer/Editor)
- Democratic senators are calling for an investigation into Elon Musk for potentially violating federal ethics laws. The senators said Musk’s participation in a Tesla promotional event with President Trump at the White House violated rules prohibiting product endorsements by federal employees.
- The event featured Trump checking out multiple Tesla models with the intention of buying one.
- The law states federal employees cannot endorse a product using their position, title or any authority associated with their office.
Full Story
Democratic senators are calling on the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) to investigate Elon Musk for potentially violating federal ethics laws. The senators said Musk’s participation in a Tesla promotional event with President Donald Trump at the White House violated rules prohibiting endorsements by federal employees.
“By promoting Tesla during an official press conference with the President while using the White House as a backdrop, Mr. Musk appeared to leverage his senior role in the government and the authority associated with the presidency to recommend Tesla and to imply that the Trump Administration endorses Tesla vehicles,” the senators wrote in a letter to the OGE.
Sens. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Cory Booker, D-N.J., and Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., signed the letter.

The event featured multiple Tesla models that the president was checking out with the intention of buying one. The president said he bought a Cybertruck for his granddaughter. Trump also discussed features like full self-driving and noted the Model 3 can be purchased for as low as $35,000.
Federal law prohibits government employees from using their office for personal gain. The senators contend that the law applies to Musk as a special government employee and senior advisor to the president.
The law states that employees cannot endorse a product using their position, title or any authority associated with their office. They also cannot imply that the government sanctions or endorses their personal activities. In addition, the lawmakers said the event may have violated a provision in the law that prohibits the use of government property for unauthorized purposes.

Violations of ethics rules can result in disciplinary action, including suspension or removal from office. However, that’s highly unlikely because even if OGE determines Musk committed a violation, Trump would have to remove him.
A White House spokesperson told The Hill that the president made a personal decision to buy a Tesla at a market rate.

Will injury to Duke star Cooper Flagg affect NCAA tournament seeding?
By Chris Francis (Sports Reporter), Joey Nunez (Video Editor)
- Duke basketball star Cooper Flagg injured his ankle in the Blue Devils’ first round win over Georgia Tech. He will likely miss the rest of the ACC tournament.
- Flagg, a 18-year-old freshman, was named a Naismith Player of the Year semifinalist on Friday, March 14.
- Duke is expected to be a number one seed in the NCAA tournament, but the selection committee may adjust depending on the severity of Flagg’s injury.
Full Story
Less than a week before the men’s NCAA tournament, there could be a major shakeup at the top of the bracket due to one injured player. Eighteen-year-old Duke freshman Cooper Flagg, who was named a semifinalist for the National Player of the Year award Friday.
How will Flagg’s injury affect the Blue Devils?
The honor for Flagg came one day after he injured his ankle in the first half of Duke’s ACC tournament matchup with Georgia Tech. It’s injury that could keep Flagg out of the first round of the NCAA tournament next week and thus change the thinking by the tournament selection committee.
However, it’s not just Flagg’s injury that has the potential number one seed worried about their NCAA chances for a deep run. Their defensive star Maliq Brown re-injured his shoulder in the same game, Thursday, March 14, and is out indefinitely.
“It hurt y’know, just to see one of my brothers go down, we just want to see each other play ball. This is what we love to do so when someone goes down it’s hard. Same thing with Maliq so we just told each other ‘We got you, we’re gonna pick you up.'” Duke guard Isaiah Evans said.
What was head coach Jon Scheyer’s reaction?
The Blue Devils came back from a 9-point first half deficit to beat the Yellow Jackets by 8. Friday night, March 14, the Blue Devils will matchup with archrival North Carolina in the ACC semifinals. The Tar Heels need a win to secure a tournament bid, but Duke head coach Jon Scheyer isn’t thinking about Friday’s game when it comes to his star player, he’s thinking about next week.
“It’s not worth it, it just isn’t,” Scheyer said. “Again, he was swollen already. It’s not about being ready to go tomorrow (Friday, March 14). That’s not the most important thing for us. We gotta see if we can get him right for this run that we can make in the (NCAA) tournament.”
X-rays on Flagg’s ankle were negative, but the question is how fast can he heal fro a severe sprain, and if he does get on the court how effective will he be? The likely number one pick in the NBA draft is averaging 18 points, 8.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists this season leading Duke to a 29-3 record.
Has this scenario happened before?
There is also an eerie precedent for one of the top seeds losing their best player right before the NCAA tournament. In 2000, Cincinnati was No. 1 in the country and led by National Player of the Year Kenyon Martin. Martin broke his leg in the conference tournament and was lost for the season. Instead of being the #1 overall seed the committee dropped Cincy to a 2 seed. The team lost in the 2nd round of the tournament.
Flagg’s injury is not as severe as a broken leg, but he could miss significant time. The committee will weigh that possibility ahead of the Selection Show, which airs on Sunday, March 16, at 6 p.m. EST.

According to Coinbase, stablecoins are a cryptocurrency with a stable value or price because they are directly tied to an asset, like the U.S. dollar.
The Genius Act requires stablecoins to be backed at least one-to-one with reserves, including the U.S. dollar, Treasury notes or bonds or other approved assets. Those reserves must be held in a regulated state or federal institution.
The act sets up rules and an application process for companies that want to become stablecoin issuers.
There are also guidelines for how those issuers will be regulated –– those with more than $10 billion will fall under the Federal Reserve’s framework for depository institutions and the Office of the Comptroller’s currency framework. In comparison, those with less than $10 billion will be regulated at the state level.
The bill creates criminal penalties for misusing or misrepresenting stablecoins.
It also clarifies that payment stablecoins are not backed by the U.S. government nor subject to deposit insurance from the FDIC.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., opposed the bill, saying it does not sufficiently address issues in the current crypto marketplace, like scams.
“The bill even invites scammers into the market by refusing to prohibit people convicted of fraud and money laundering from owning stablecoin companies,” Warren said. “Sam Bankman-Fried could buy a stablecoin company from prison, and regulators would have no legal grounds to stop him.”
She also expressed concern that there aren’t enough national security protections. Criminal organizations like drug cartels and sanctioned nations use crypto to move money and make purchases that the global banking industry would otherwise block.
“Without changes, this bill will supercharge the financing of terrorism,” Warren said. “It will make sanctions evasion by Iran, North Korea and Russia easier, and it will help out international gangs that are moving fentanyl into the United States.”

Republicans pushed back against Warren, saying her claims do not apply to the legislation and that it does not create any loopholes.
“The Genius Act has gained this bipartisan support because it presents commonsense rules that protect consumers, promote competition and foster innovation,” Sen. Bill Haggerty, R-Tenn., said. “It’s time we provide the clarity and stability that our country and its innovators so desperately need.”
The bill will now move on to the full Senate for more debate and a vote. The House also needs to approve the bill before the president can sign it.

The website “Tesla Takedown” has become a hub for people protesting Musk’s budget cuts and mass firings of federal workers as part of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Bondi said they’re targeting Musk for his political affiliation.
What has Trump said about the Tesla vandalism?
President Donald Trump said earlier this week he’d be open to labeling those who attack Tesla as domestic terrorists.
“We already know who some of them are; we are going to catch them. If you do it to any company, we will catch you, and you are gonna go through hell,” Trump said at the White House.
On Wednesday, March 12, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., posted to X, “The attacks must be investigated as domestic terrorism.” Greene added she and her colleagues sent a letter to Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel asking for the Justice Department investigation.

The bill increases military spending by $6 billion and decreases non-defense spending by $13 billion.
How close was the bill to failing?
It appeared that the bill was dead in the water earlier this week when Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., announced that Democrats would not provide the votes needed to get the bill over the finish line.
The Senate’s 53-47 balance of power meant at least seven Democrats had to vote in favor to overcome a 60-vote filibuster. Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul said days ago he was a firm no, meaning GOP Majority Leader John Thune, S.D., needed to pick up eight votes from the other side of the aisle.
Sen. Schumer flipped his vote on Thursday, March 13, and said he would vote yes, giving his Democratic caucus the green light to do the same.
Why did some Democrats flip their votes?
Democrats said they were concerned that Donald Trump could determine which employees are essential and have to continue working without pay, and which would get furloughed in the event of a government shutdown. They contend that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) could also use it as a tool to essentially lay off more government employees.
“Under a shutdown, the Trump administration would have full authority to deem whole agencies, programs and personnel nonessential, furloughing staff with no promise that they would ever be rehired,” Schumer said.
While Republicans and Democrats can debate the content of the bill, neither side can defend the process. Congress is supposed to pass 12 appropriations bills every year that each fund a different governmental department.
Even with the passage of this package, Congress failed to approve a single appropriations bill for fiscal year 2025. Lawmakers have officially funded the government for the entire year on continuing resolutions, which are supposed to be temporary and used only when there are no other options.

What are Republicans saying about government funding?
Sen. Thune blamed Schumer for putting Congress in this situation because he did not bring a single appropriations bill up for a vote when he was majority leader in 2024, despite the fact that they had bipartisan support.
“Month after month, leader Schumer found something more important to do than fund the government. And not one, one of those bipartisan bills ever came to the floor. So today we’re trying to finish up last year’s work so we can begin,” Thune said.
Thune said, now that 2025 funding is complete, they will start working on fiscal year 2026 appropriations, which will begin on Oct. 1.
