Journalist Olivia Nuzzi is no longer employed by New York Magazine following a controversy involving her alleged relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Nuzzi, a former political reporter for the magazine, had been placed on leave after disclosing that she had entered into a “nonphysical” relationship with RFK Jr. after covering him for New York Magazine.
According to Politico, where Nuzzi’s ex-fiancé Ryan Lizza is also on leave, New York Magazine officially parted ways with Nuzzi earlier this week. This decision came despite two separate investigations clearing her of bias or inaccuracies in her reporting on the 2024 election.
One investigation was conducted by an external law firm, while the other was an internal review.
In a statement, New York Magazine acknowledged that while Nuzzi’s reporting was found to be sound, her actions created the appearance of a conflict of interest, violating the newsroom’s standards of integrity and respect.
The magazine described the decision to part ways as mutual. Nuzzi’s lawyer issued a comment, stating she was “gratified, though not surprised” by the findings of the investigations, which confirmed that she had done nothing wrong.
Meanwhile, her ex-fiancé, Ryan Lizza, remains on leave from Politico. There is no indication of when he might return, with reports suggesting it will not be before the upcoming election
