Biden: Despite Russian threats, US should not worry about nuclear war

The war in Ukraine has heightened the risk of a nuclear exchange even as leaders from Russia and NATO continue to emphasize that such a war is unthinkable. Nuclear strategists and former U.S. officials have warned of a remote but growing risk of an unintended slide into direct conflict.

The outcome of a nuclear strike would be impossible to predict. A recent Princeton University simulation projecting each side’s war plans  estimated it would likely trigger an exchange that, in escalating to strategic weapons like intercontinental missiles, could kill 34 million people within a few hours.

Since at least 2014, when Russia’s annexation of Crimea led to high tension with the West, Moscow has articulated a policy of potentially using nuclear weapons against any threat to “the existence of the state itself.”

U.S. defense officials would not disclose their current nuclear alert level except to say that the military is prepared at all times to defend its homeland and allies.

THE U.S. IS SENDING TROOPS INTO EUROPE

RUSSIAN NUCLEAR WEAPONS ARE ON HIGH ALERT

AND THE REST OF THE WORLD IS WAITING FOR VLADIMIR PUTIN’S. NEXT. MOVE.

TENSIONS ARE HIGH. THIS IS THE BIGGEST THING SINCE WORLD WAR 2.
BUT WE’RE IN THE 21ST CENTURY.

SO HOW LIKELY IS A NUCLEAR ATTACK?

PRESIDENT BIDEN HAS A SIMPLE ANSWER

“MR. PRESIDENT SHOULD AMERICANS BE WORRIED ABOUT NUCLEAR WAR? NO”

BUT THE UN SECRETARY-GENERAL HAS A DIFFERENT TAKE:

“THE PROSPECT OF NUCLEAR WAR IS NOW WITHIN THE REALM OF POSSIBILITY”

RUSSIA AND THE U.S. CONTROL 90 PERCENT OF THE WORLD’S NUCLEAR WEAPONS

SO THE PROSPECT OF A NUCLEAR WAR – DEPENDS ON WHO STARTS IT

U.S NUCLEAR STRATEGY IS TO DETER AND IF NECESSARY TAKE ACTION TO PREVENT A NUCLEAR CATASTROPHE

RUSSIA’S DOCTRINE ALLOWS FOR THE USE OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS QUOTE AGAINST AGGRESSION THAT THREATENS THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION
