Government buildings across the United States faced bomb threats for the second consecutive day on Thursday, Jan. 4. The Mississippi Capitol, along with the state Supreme Court and Hinds County Circuit Court buildings, were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Similar incidents were reported in Arkansas, Massachusetts, Florida and Maine, adding to the heightened state of alert. These threats came in the wake of evacuations at eight state capitols on Wednesday, triggered by an emailed bomb threat sent to at least 23 states.

While no real and immediate threat has been verified so far, the incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced by public servants at all government levels who have experienced a significant surge in threats in recent years.
Notably, alongside bomb threats, there has been a notable increase in “swattings,” involving false reports designed to draw law enforcement to specific locations.
Authorities continue to investigate these incidents, emphasizing the need for heightened security measures to address the growing threats against government officials.
