Knives, criminology books among items seized at Kohberger’s parents’ house

The Idaho murders of four college students last November is a haunting crime that initially lacked resolution with no public leads for weeks. In late December, police arrested Bryan Kohberger, who is suspected of killing the four University of Idaho students. The public has been able to gain information through unsealed court records with the latest being the evidence log of what police seized at Kohberger’s parents’ home. It was at Kohberger’s parents’ home in Pennsylvania where Kohberger was arrested after making a cross-country drive with his father.

Police conducted a search warrant, and according to police logs, officials seized multiple items including knives, dark clothing and criminology books. The court documents list a Smith and Wesson pocket knife and another knife in a leather sheath found at the parents’ house. Black gloves, masks, a cellphone, laptops, and shoes were also listed in the evidence log. The white 2015 Hyundai Elantra Kohberger drove was seized by police.

A court order prohibits the prosecution and the defense from providing information on the case other than referring to public records. Because of court documents unsealed this week, the public is able to learn a little more about the investigation. Kohberger, 28, faces four counts of first-degree murder in the fatal stabbings of Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Madison Mogen, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Ethan Chapin, 20.

Kohberger has yet to enter a plea. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 26.
