How low can they go? Reasons for Kamala Harris’ historically low approval ratings

A recent USAToday / Suffolk University poll pegged Vice President Kamala Harris’ approval rating at 28 percent. It’s the lowest approval rating of a modern vice president and casts doubt over a future Harris presidential run.

The White House quickly jumped to her defense. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told Politico there was “no question” that racism and sexism were part of “attacks” against the vice president. Even before she became vice president, Harris said back in 2019 that racism and misogyny harmed her politically .

The Biden administration has worked to display a united front, with Psaki tweeting that Harris is a ‘vital partner’ and ‘bold leader’.

But disparaging leaks about Harris’ role suggest her appointment to address the border crisis was a ‘no-win situation’.

When asked on Good Morning America about whether she felt misused or under used, Harris replied, “No, I don’t.”

“We’re getting things done and we’re doing it together,” she added.

In the same USAToday / Suffolk University poll, President Biden posted a 38 percent approval rating.

IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE THIS WAS ONLY A YEAR AGO.

VP Kamala Harris: “We did it Joe.”

SO HOW DID WE GO FROM THIS TO THIS. AN APPROVAL RATING OF JUST 28 PERCENT… MAKING KAMALA HARRIS THE LEAST POPULAR VICE PRESIDENT IN MODERN HISTORY.

 CREATING FODDER FOR THE RIGHT.

Tucker Carlson: “How does someone who is clearly not liked by the people around her, get so high up?”

THE BETTER QUESTION… HOW DID WE GET HERE? HAS HARRIS BEEN *FAIRLY… THROWN UNDER THE BUS?

Before you make up your mind, LET’S GET THIS STRAIGHT.

DESPITE REPORTS OF TENSION BEHIND THE SCENES, THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE IS PUTTING ON A UNITED FRONT.

VP Kamala Harris: “We’re getting things done and we’re doing it together.”

George Stephanopoulos: “So you don’t feel misused or underused?”

VP Kamala Harris: “No, i don’t.”

PRESS SECRETARY, JEN PSAKI VOICED WHITE HOUSE SUPPORT ON TWITTER, CALLING HARRIS A VITAL PARTNER AND BOLD LEADER…WHILE ADDRESSING SOME OF THE ISSUES SHE’S LEADING,

LIKE VOTING RIGHTS AND MIGRATION.

BUT THOSE CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES BIDEN MADE HARRIS THE FACE OF… AREN’T DOING HER ANY FAVORS.

IN A NEW CNN EXPOSE’ ONE INSIDE SOURCE CALLS HER ASSIGNMENTS A ‘no-win political situation’.

ONE EXAMPLE- TOUTING BIDEN’S ‘DO NOT COME’ POLICY TO CENTRAL AMERICAN MIGRANTS. ##

BUT THE BORDER issue CONTRIBUTED TO A DROP IN THE POLLS BEFORE SHE EVEN GOT THERE.

Lester Holt: “You haven’t been to the border.”.

VP Kamala Harris: “And I haven’t been to Europe. And, I mean, I don’t understand the point that you’re making.”

SINCE THEN, HARRIS BEEN LARGELY OUT OF THE AMERICAN SPOTLIGHT.

SENT ON FOREIGN TRIPS ABROAD AND RARELY GIVING OTHER INTERVIEWS. ARGUABLY MAKING IT EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO GARNER MORE AMERICAN SUPPORT.

BUT TO SOME- IT’S PROOF SHE’S DOING HER JOB.

‘’Just because VP Harris is not in-front of the camera, doesn’t mean she isn’t working. It doesn’t mean she’s not doing her job, in fact it means she’s doing exactly what she’s supposed to do to be MVP.”

PRIOR TO BECOMING THE VICE PRESIDENT, HARRIS WAS VOCAL ABOUT RACISM AND MISOGYNY HARMING HER POLITICALLY. CALLING IT THE ‘ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM’ IN 2019.

VP Kamala Harris: “Electability. You know, essentially, is America ready for a woman and a woman of color to be president of the United States?”

OR IN THIS CASE, VICE PRESIDENT.

BUT LASTLY, LET’S LOOK AT HER BOSS. WHEN A PRESIDENT’S NUMBERS GO DOWN, THE VP’S TYPICALLY FOLLOW.

AND BIDEN’S HAVE SUNK TO 38 PERCENT IN THIS USA TODAY AND SUFFOLK UNIVERSITY POLL.

STILL TEN POINTS HIGHER THAN HARRIS…DESPITE CRITICISM OVER THE AFGHANISTAN WITHDRAWAL AND VACCINE ROLLOUT.

MANY THOUGHT HARRIS WOULD BE HIS HEIR IN 2024 OR ‘28, BUT IT WOULD TAKE A LOT MORE THAN 28 PERCENT approval rating TO GET HER ELECTED.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS TO BLAME FOR HER LOW POLLING- SCAPEGOATING, RACISM, OR THE VP HERSELF?  LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW.
