The typically bustling terminal became a stage as commuters paused to watch the cast perform eerily mundane office routines, seemingly unaware of the crowd surrounding them.

What is “Severance”?
“Severance” is a dystopian psychological thriller that explores the balance between work and personal life. Its surveillance and corporate control themes were symbolized by staging the event in a glass box in a busy public area.
The series is set in a world where employees at Lumon Industries undergo a “severance” procedure, splitting their memories and consciousness into two separate identities. Their “innie” represents their work self, while their “outie” is their personal self.
Fans of “Severance” have waited nearly three years since the season one cliffhanger. Season two of the Apple TV+ hit premieres Friday, Jan. 17.

Grand Central Station transformed into an unexpected portal to the world of “Severance” Tuesday as the cast of the series brought Lumon Industries to life in a unique promotional event.
Actors Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, and Tramell Tillman portrayed their characters ahead of Friday’s release of Season Two. Director and executive producer Ben Stiller was also in attendance capturing moments. The typically bustling terminal became the stage for a surreal scene, complete with a glass-enclosed replica of an office. Commuters stopped in their tracks as they watched the cast perform eerie office routines, seemingly oblivious to the crowd gathered around them.
Even before the cast appeared, fake Lumon employees populated the desk setup. Tuesday, Stiller teased by posting on social media, “Rush hour today should be interesting.”
“Severance” is a dystopian psychological thriller that explores the balance between work and personal life. Its themes of surveillance and corporate control were reflected in the choice to stage the event in a glass box at such a busy location. The series is set in a world where employees at Lumon undergo a surgical procedure called “severance” which separates their memories into two separate identities – their work self known as the Innie and their personal self known as the Outtie.
“My Outie’s wife died a few years ago. Except the woman is Ms. Casey.”
It’s been nearly three years since Season One of “Severance” left fans with a cliffhanger. Season Two premieres January 17th on Apple TV Plus.
