The FEMA administrator did not identify the employee or specify where the incident occurred following Hurricane Helene’s impact on western North Carolina and Hurricane Milton’s devastation in Florida.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, R, claimed the incident took place in his state and directed Florida’s Division of Emergency Management to investigate.

“The blatant weaponization of government by partisan activists in the federal bureaucracy is yet another reason why the Biden-Harris administration is in its final days,” DeSantis wrote in a post on X.

DeSantis referenced reporting from The Daily Wire, which detailed a FEMA whistleblower’s account of a FEMA supervisor, Marn’i Washington, allegedly instructing government employees working in Lake Placid, Florida, to avoid homes in the area displaying Trump signs.

According to The Daily Wire, the directive caused “disaster relief workers to skip at least 20 homes in the Lake Placid community.”

“New leadership is on the way in D.C., and I’m optimistic that these partisan bureaucrats will be fired,” DeSantis said.

FEMA confirmed the matter is under investigation and has been referred to the Office of Special Counsel.

“I will continue to do everything I can to make sure this never happens again,” the Criswell said.
