Federal agencies introduce gender “X” on Transgender Day of Visibility

On the Transgender Day of Visibility, the White House announced federal agencies will recognize a new gender designation as part of a push for more gender neutrality. Use of the “X” pronoun in TSA Precheck will begin Apr. 11, and the Department of Homeland Security said the move is intended to keep pace with identity documents that already include that option.

“DHS is committed to protecting the traveling public while ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender identity, is treated with respect,” Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in a statement.

MAHMOUD BENNETT: THE WHITE HOUSE IS MARKING THE INTERNATIONAL TRANSGENDER DAY OF VISIBILITY – BY ANNOUNCING SOME SWEEPING NEW MEASURES –

THEY SAY IT’S TO PUSH GENDER
NEUTRALITY

*AND IT STARTS WITH A NEW PRONOUN*

U.S. PASSPORT APPLICATIONS WILL SOON INCLUDE THE GENDER X MARKER – ALLOWING ANYONE TO IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS THEY CHOOSE

AND AIRPORT SCANNERS WILL BE MODIFIED TO KEEP UP WITH THE NEW X PRONOUN

NEW SYSTEMS – NEW INSTRUCTIONS

THE TSA WILL DISREGARD GENDER WHEN VERIFYING DOCUMENTS AND WILL WORK WITH AIRLINES TO PROMOTE THE NEW GENDER X MARKER ACROSS THE BOARD

THAT’S ACCORDING TO THE DHS. BUT IT DOESN’T STOP THERE – THE NEW GENDER RULES WILL APPLY TO OTHER FEDERAL AGENCIES

LIKE THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION – WHICH IS SCRAPING THE DOCTOR’S NOTE REQUIREMENT. IT’LL ALLOW PEOPLE TO UPDATE THEIR GENDER ON REQUEST AND WITHOUT PROOF OF IDENTITY

SIMILAR CHANGES EXTEND TO FAFSA APPLICATIONS, THE EEOC AND OTHER GOVERNMENT ENTITIES
