SIMONE DEL ROSARIO: TURNS OUT ELON MUSK IS NOT ON BOARD WITH SERVING ON TWITTER’S BOARD.
TWITTER SHARES SHOOK AFTER INVESTORS LEARNED THE COMPANY’S LARGEST SHAREHOLDER DECLINED THE SEAT OVER THE WEEKEND.
THE BILLIONAIRE ALSO DELETED A BUNCH OF HIS TWITTER MUSINGS, LIKE THIS ONE POLLING IF TWITTER’S H-Q SHOULD BE TURNED INTO A HOMELESS SHELTER.
SO NOW WHAT?
BY REFUSING THE SEAT – THE WORLD’S RICHEST MAN CAN BUY AS MUCH TWITTER STOCK AS HE WANTS. THE BOARD APPOINTMENT *WOULD HAVE* LIMITED HIM TO A 14.9% STAKE. HE OWNS 9.2% RIGHT NOW.
CEO PARAG AGRAWAL TOLD EMPLOYEES THAT WHILE THEY WERE CLEAR ABOUT THE RISKS OF MUSK JOINING THE BOARD – THEY THOUGHT HAVING HIM AS A FIDUCIARY OF THE COMPANY, WHERE HE’D HAVE TO ACT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE COMPANY AND SHAREHOLDERS, WAS THE BEST PATH FORWARD.
BUT HE NOW BELIEVES MUSK’S DECISION TO DECLINE THE SEAT “IS FOR THE BEST.”
HE DID WARN EMPLOYEES OF “DISTRACTIONS AHEAD” AND ADVISED THEM TO “TUNE OUT THE NOISE.”
MUSK APPEARED TO REACT – THEN DELETE.
FROM NEW YORK FOR JUST BUSINESS I’M SIMONE DEL ROSARIO.
