The United States added 467,000 new jobs in January, according to the most recent jobs report from the Department of Labor. The report also found the unemployment rate rose slightly to 4 percent.
“Our country is taking everything that COVID has to throw at us to come back stronger,” President Biden said. “America is back to work.”
According to the report, wages have also increased. From December to January, they increased 0.7 percent.
But inflation increased at a much faster rate, negating that increase.
“Economists said this inflation is exactly, exactly what would happen if Democrats pushed ahead with their reckless spending sprees the economy simply did not need,” Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said on the Senate Floor.
