President Joe Biden and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., have dueling speeches tonight in Pennsylvania. The speeches represent a preview of what voters will see leading up to the midterm elections.

The President will speak in Philadelphia from Independence National Historical Park about what the White House calls “the continued battle for the Soul of the Nation”. This is President Biden’s second big speech this week as he begins a campaign push for Democrats.

During a speech from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania Tuesday, the President had a very pro-police message, stating law enforcement needs more funding and resources. He also criticized Republicans who say they back the blue.

“So, let me say this to my MAGA Republican friends in Congress: don’t tell me you support law enforcement if you won’t condemn what happened on the 6th,” Biden said. “You can’t be pro law enforcement and pro insurrection.”

President Biden has more events scheduled over the next couple weeks. He will visit Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Pittsburgh on Labor Day, to celebrate what the White House said is the “dignity of American workers.” He will travel to Boston the following week to discuss investments in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

McCarthy, meanwhile, will speak from Biden’s hometown of Scranton. The Republican leader’s office said he will talk about what he has heard from Americans during his summer travels, including concerns about inflation, rising crime and other hardships brought on by the Democrats’ harmful policies.”

McCarthy is trying to flip the script by saying Biden’s battle for the soul of the nation is “Biden’s assault on the soul of America.” He is also trying to give a boost to Jim Bognet, the Republican candidate for Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional district, who is trying to flip the seat currently held by Rep. Matt Cartwright, D.

Straight Arrow News will stream President Biden’s speech live on YouTube. The speech is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
