Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow led his team to victory on Monday, Dec. 9. As he secured the win in Arlington against the Cowboys, his house was broken into hundreds of miles away in Ohio.

A 911 call alerted law enforcement to the home where Burrow’s girlfriend reported someone was trying to get in.

Her mom called local dispatch, stating, “This is Joe Burrow’s house. She is staying there. He’s at the football game.”

She told the dispatcher her daughter wasn’t sure what to do. The girlfriend later called the police herself and told them the house was ransacked.

Cincinnati-based TV station WLWT reported a police officer was assigned to Burrow’s home Monday night. WLWT also said dispatch said a security guard was assigned to the home.

WLWT said police dispatch said the bedroom was raided and the window was broken.

The robbery happened just weeks after the NFL issued a security alert for professional athletes. In a November memo, the league said organized criminals are targeting the homes of athletes in the NFL and NBA while they’re at away games.

Burglars previously targeted the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars, Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.

The NFL encouraged players to limit posting their location on social media, including when they would be out of town at games. Officials also told them to refrain from posting expensive items.
