VP Kamala Harris’ NASA video included child actors

A Youtube Original video featuring Vice President Kamala Harris and a NASA astronaut meant to get kids interested in space quickly turned into a public relations nightmare, as children featured in the video were paid actors. Trevor Bernardino, 13, of Monterey, California, told KSBW-TV, he and four other kids auditioned for the spot. He then traveled to Washington, D.C., where they filmed the 9-minute Youtube Original program with the vice president.

That revelation was just enough for the story to go viral.

Some social media users defended the vice president, as well.

JIMMIE JOHNSON: THIS NASA VIDEO STARRING VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS WAS MEANT TO GET KIDS DREAMING ABOUT SPACE

INSTEAD, IT HAS TURNED INTO A PR NIGHTMARE FOR THE V-P.

TODAY MANY ON SOCIAL MEDIA ARE MOCKING HARRIS BECAUSE, A, THEY USED CHILD ACTORS AND, B, THEY HIRED A CANADIAN COMPANY TO PRODUCE THE VIDEO.

AND TO THE AMUSEMENT OF MANY, THE COMPANY IS CALLED SINKING SHIP ENTERTAINMENT. LET’S START WITH THOSE FIVE PAID-CHILD ACTORS.

TREVOR BERNARDINO: ”Hi, I’m Trevor and I’m from Monterey, California.”

JIMMIE: TREVOR TOLD A MONTEREY TV STATION HE AND OTHERS AUDITIONED FOR THE SPOT.

AND THEN FLOWN TO D-C TO RECORD THE NINE-MINUTE SHORT FILM WITH THE V-P.

TREVOR: “Hey, I just got a message. Astronaut: Hey team, if you’re gonna build your own telescope. It might help to see how one works first.”

JIMMIE: TWITTER USER, MATT SAYS, “THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION IS USING TAX DOLLARS TO PAY CHILD ACTORS TO TRY AND MAKE KAMALA HARRIS SEEM RELATABLE.

AS FAR AS USING A CANADIAN COMPANY SINKING SHIP ENTERTAINMENT.

TOM TWEETED, YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS STUFF UP.

BUT, IT’S NOT ALL NEGATIVE

SHAWN TWEETED A SESAME STREET PIC TO MAKE THAT POINT THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH USING CHILD ACTORS FOR EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS.

WHILE KAIVEN SAYS HARRIS IS DOING A GREAT JOB AND DOESN’T GET ENOUGH CREDIT.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS VIDEO?
